Temperature specification and OEM procurement
Caster Operating Temperature: A Buyer’s Guide for Cold Rooms and Hot Work Areas
Specify caster temperature limits, load derating and cold-start checks before ordering. Compare published wheel-series data and prepare an evidence-based OEM RFQ.
Key takeaways
- Specify minimum temperature, normal exposure, peak temperature and duration separately. Include both loaded movement and loaded parking.
- A published temperature endpoint does not establish full load capacity at that endpoint. Request the temperature-specific rating for the exact assembly.
- The numerical comparison below uses named Blickle wheel series as external reference data. It does not establish a temperature rating for any XIN JIE product.
Introduction
A caster selected for a room-temperature showroom may need a different approval process on a cold-room trolley or equipment parked near a heat source. The useful procurement question is which complete assembly will work through your actual temperature cycle, at the required load, with evidence to support that choice.
This guide is written for global B2B buyers who need practical supplier, product and application information before sending a caster wheel RFQ.
Which temperature belongs in a caster RFQ?
Start with the route, rather than writing only cold room or heat resistant. Record the lowest storage temperature, temperature during movement, nearby hot surfaces, time spent in each area and frequency of transitions. Include cleaning and drying stages if the equipment passes through them.
Room-air temperature and wheel temperature are different measurements. Blickle explains that tread temperature also depends on frictional heating; cold can stiffen elastomers, while heat and sustained loading can increase flattening risk. That is a reason to describe the duty cycle, not a way to calculate an untested wheel’s life.
Ask the supplier to state where its temperature limit applies: ambient air, wheel material, bearing or complete caster. Record how temperature was measured in a sample trial. If you only know room-air values initially, label them as such and ask engineering what additional measurements the application needs.

What do published wheel temperature ranges actually show?
The following values come from Blickle’s public wheel-series guide, checked on 28 October 2026. They describe three named wheel series from that manufacturer. They are useful examples of how a specification distinguishes a listed range, a temporary limit and an earlier load-reduction threshold.
The chart displays only the upper endpoint of each listed range. Read it together with the table: an endpoint is not a full-load approval, a service-life prediction or a ranking of overall wheel quality. These values cannot be transferred to another manufacturer’s TPE, PU or rubber product simply because the material name is similar.

| Blickle wheel series | Listed range | Temporary upper value | Published ambient-temperature load note |
|---|---|---|---|
| TPA — thermoplastic rubber-elastomer | −20 to +60 °C | No separate value stated in this overview | Load capacity reduces above +30 °C |
| PATH — thermoplastic polyurethane | −20 to +70 °C | Up to +90 °C temporarily | Load capacity reduces above +35 °C |
| POES — elastic solid rubber | −20 to +80 °C | Up to +100 °C temporarily | Load capacity reduces above +35 °C |

How should buyers handle load derating and temporary peaks?
Request the permissible load at your intended temperature, speed and duty for the quoted caster. Keep the normal-temperature catalog load separate from any temperature-specific value. Do not invent a common reduction percentage across materials or apply a competitor’s derating rule to a XIN JIE model.
For a temporary peak, ask for its duration, repetition limit, loading condition and recovery requirements. Ten minutes of exposure and an entire shift are different purchase specifications even if the same maximum temperature appears in the RFQ. State whether the trolley moves during exposure or remains parked under load.
If the supplier cannot substantiate the proposed duty, keep that configuration unapproved and agree an engineering review or test plan. Do not fill a missing hot-load rating by adding an arbitrary safety factor to a room-temperature figure. The complete caster, its mounting and the equipment must all meet the agreed application requirements.
| Purchase question | Evidence or answer required | What remains unresolved without it |
|---|---|---|
| What load is allowed during hot travel? | Rated assembly, temperature, speed and duty conditions | Whether the normal-temperature load remains applicable |
| What does a temporary peak mean? | Exposure time, repetition and recovery conditions | Whether the proposed production cycle is covered |
| What happens during loaded parking? | Agreed dwell condition and post-dwell checks | Restart effort and permanent deformation in the application |
| Can the unit start after cold storage? | Conditioned installed-sample results | Handling and brake operation at cold start |

Get a QuoteWhy must the bearing, grease and brake be reviewed too?
A suitable tread does not establish the temperature capability of the fork assembly, bearing, lubricant, seals or brake components. Ask the supplier to identify the configuration it is approving, including maintenance instructions. A quote that names only the wheel polymer leaves several parts of the decision open.
SKF’s technical discussion distinguishes a grease’s structural temperature limit from the temperature window in which its performance can be relied upon. A grease dropping point alone is therefore an incomplete selection criterion. This is lubrication context; no SKF bearing or grease is assumed to be fitted to the XIN JIE models mentioned here.
Where equipment moves between cold and warm areas or is washed, describe moisture and chemical exposure as separate requirements. Provide the cleaner, concentration, contact time and cleaning temperature. A temperature rating by itself does not demonstrate washdown compatibility or corrosion resistance.

Which XIN JIE model details are available for a first inquiry?
JQ-211-2 is publicly listed as a black 3 inch PU industrial caster. Its lead-time reference is 7–10 days; MOQ requires RFQ confirmation and pieces per carton depend on the packing plan. The public page does not establish a cold-room or high-temperature operating rating.
JQ-183-1 is a gray 50 mm brake caster with a published MOQ reference of 1,000 pieces, a 15-day lead-time reference and 100 pieces per carton. Its temperature capability also needs confirmation for the exact quoted version. These public terms were checked on 28 October 2026 and need reconfirmation if material, mounting, brake, color or other features change.
Use these models to make the inquiry specific, rather than treating them as preapproved thermal options. Send the temperature profile, total loaded equipment mass, number and layout of casters, mounting drawing, floor conditions and movement frequency. Ask whether an existing configuration can meet the requirement or a different construction needs review.
| Model | Public MOQ / lead-time reference | Temperature evidence to request |
|---|---|---|
| JQ-211-2 — 3 inch PU industrial caster | MOQ by RFQ / 7–10 days | Complete-assembly temperature range and permissible load for the actual duty |
| JQ-183-1 — 50 mm brake caster | 1,000 pcs / 15 days | Exact variant, cold-start behavior and brake-function evidence |

What should a temperature-conditioned sample trial record?
Agree the specimen, drawing revision, quantity, conditioning procedure and acceptance criteria before testing. Record the actual exposure temperature and duration, measurement location, load, route, speed and parking condition. Use a fixture or equipment installation representative of the purchase.
For a cold-start review, condition the assembly as agreed and record the delay between removal and measurement. Compare starting effort, sustained movement, swivel behavior and brake engagement or release under defined conditions. A sample that has warmed back to room temperature does not answer the same question as one measured at the intended cold condition.
For hot duty, include the required travel and loaded dwell, then inspect the wheel, bond, fork and brake. Record dimensions, visible changes, play and agreed handling measurements before exposure, at the specified stage and after recovery. The qualified test provider should define suitable instrumentation and the method for the application.
No model-specific thermal experiment was available in the public sources used for this guide. This section is a proposed validation plan; the chart is published catalog data. Ask for the actual report, specimen identity, conditions, readings and conclusion before using any measured claim in the purchase specification.
- Keep raw readings with units and identify the instrument and sample revision.
- Separate cold-start, hot travel and loaded-parking results rather than merging them into one pass label.
- Document any lubricant, seal or tread change after sample approval.
- Agree incoming checks and any repeat qualification required after a configuration change.
How do samples, colors and delivery terms enter the order?
Ask for sample preparation time, cost, courier arrangements and any testing or tooling work separately from bulk-production lead time. Put sample approval, report review and production release on the schedule as distinct milestones. A public lead-time reference does not establish the duration of a new qualification project.
For a special color, provide a defined code or physical reference and ask whether a color card is available. Approve an actual material sample for the agreed appearance. If exposure-related appearance matters, include that requirement in the trial; a printed color card cannot establish thermal performance.
Reconfirm MOQ by model, material, brake, color and packing configuration. For mixed-container loading or staged shipments, provide a line-item quantity and carton-label plan. Warehouse location, stock availability, storage duration and charges require written confirmation; the cited public pages do not establish overseas warehouse support.
The final RFQ should connect the temperature profile to an identifiable assembly and an approval record. Ask which material controls, dimensional checks and test reports will accompany that order. Keep the approved bill of materials and drawing revision with the purchase so a visually similar replacement is not accepted without review.

FAQ
Does the top of a temperature range mean full load is allowed there?
Not automatically. The permissible load can reduce before the listed temperature endpoint. Request the rating for the exact wheel and complete caster at the intended temperature, speed and duty.
Can I apply another manufacturer’s PU temperature range to a XIN JIE wheel?
No. The reference values in this guide belong to named Blickle series. Material formulation, wheel construction and other assembly components need confirmation for the actual XIN JIE configuration.
What does a temporary maximum temperature mean?
Ask the supplier to define exposure duration, repetition, loading and recovery conditions. A temporary maximum without those conditions does not establish suitability for your operating cycle.
Are the chart values XIN JIE laboratory results?
No. They are published Blickle wheel-series catalog values, checked on 28 October 2026. No model-specific XIN JIE thermal experiment is claimed.
What should I send for a cold-room caster quotation?
Send the temperature profile, storage and travel duration, loaded equipment mass, caster layout, mounting drawing, floor, cleaning exposure, quantity and required sample approval method. Ask for cold-start and complete-assembly evidence.
