How to Read a Caster Test Report Before Approving an OEM Order

Check caster test scope, sample identity, load, speed and results before OEM approval. Compare industrial and hospital-bed standards without assuming certification.

Key takeaways

  • Match the report to the model, drawing revision, tread, mounting and brake configuration.
  • An industrial caster report does not automatically cover hospital-bed or chair applications.
  • No model-specific laboratory report was available in the public sources used for this guide; request the actual report before making a compliance claim.

Introduction

A test report is useful only when it matches the caster you intend to buy. Start with sample identity and application scope, then check the test conditions, measured results and the connection to the production order.

This guide is written for global B2B buyers who need practical supplier, product and application information before sending a caster wheel RFQ.

Start with the part, not the pass stamp

The first page may say pass while the tested sample differs from the quoted caster. Compare the model code, wheel diameter, tread material, bearing, mounting and brake configuration against the drawing and the physical sample. Ask the supplier to identify any difference rather than assuming it is cosmetic.

Keep a copy of the complete report with its report number, issuing organization, date, sample photos and test conclusion. If only a screenshot or cropped certificate is provided, request the pages that define the specimen and results. Where an accredited laboratory is required, verify the laboratory and its relevant scope through the accreditor or laboratory itself.

Check whether the standard covers your application

The public ISO 22883:2004 abstract covers industrial wheels and castors for manual propulsion or power towing up to 1.1 m/s (4 km/h). It excludes furniture, swivel chairs, institutional equipment, hospital beds and driven applications. A report citing it therefore needs a scope check before it is used for a different equipment class.

The public ISO 22882:2016 abstract concerns hospital-bed swivel castors with a wheel diameter of at least 100 mm and a central locking device. A small medical trolley wheel is not automatically within that scope because its listing uses the word medical. Ask an appropriately qualified test provider to select the applicable requirements for the finished use.

These are summaries of public scope statements, checked on 20 October 2026. This guide does not reproduce paid test clauses or assert that any XIN JIE model complies. Confirm the applicable edition and any destination-market or equipment requirements when commissioning the test.

Separate load evidence from handling and brake evidence

Static load, dynamic durability, starting effort, sustained rolling effort and brake holding answer different questions. Do not read a load result as a measured noise, rolling-resistance or parking result. Ask which characteristics were tested and which remain unmeasured.

For a dynamic report, locate the applied load, speed, surface or track description, duration or cycles, and inspection criteria. For a brake report, locate the brake function, load and test arrangement. Avoid inventing a common pass threshold across different methods or equipment classes.

Record units carefully. A mass stated in kg and a measured force stated in N are different quantities. If a report uses kgf, ask the issuer to confirm the conversion and the measurement method. Retain the original unit alongside any converted figure.

  • Capture all specimen IDs and the number of tested samples.
  • Check instrument identification and calibration information where required.
  • Record damage, tread separation, looseness and permanent deformation if reported.
  • Ask the issuer to explain missing pages or inconsistent dates before approval.

Create a trial record when public results are unavailable

A factory video can show a process or piece of equipment, but it does not supply the conditions and traceability needed for a model-specific test conclusion. The public pages used for this guide do not provide a complete laboratory report for the sample you are ordering. Treat that as an evidence request to resolve during RFQ.

Use a trial sheet with the exact configuration, cart or fixture identification, load, floor, environmental conditions, method, raw readings and photos. Agree the pass criteria before the trial starts. If a formal standard applies, let the qualified test provider specify sample count and procedure rather than substituting an informal buyer trial.

For incoming production checks, decide which dimensions, visual defects, function checks and packing checks will be reviewed, by whom and at what stage. Any sampling plan and acceptance limits should be agreed in the order documentation; this article does not invent an AQL or a universal test-cycle count.

Connect XIN JIE sampling and commercial terms to the approval

XIN JIE’s custom-caster page invites drawings, existing samples, material requirements, load, speed, mounting, color and packaging details for feasibility review. Use that route to request the exact report, sample configuration and any additional testing cost. A customization capability statement is not proof that a particular test has already been performed.

Keep commercial references at model level. JQ-183-1 lists a 1,000-piece MOQ reference and 15-day lead time; JQ-211-1 lists 7–10 days and asks buyers to confirm MOQ by RFQ. These are public references, not a promise that custom tooling, laboratory work or sample approval fits within the same period.

Before placing the bulk order, obtain a written sequence for drawing approval, sample preparation, testing, color-sample approval and production. If storage, mixed shipments or an overseas warehouse are required, request the location, terms and availability explicitly. Keep the approved test evidence attached to the purchase specification.

FAQ

Does a factory testing-machine photo prove caster compliance?

No. It can document equipment or a process, but a model-specific claim needs the relevant specimen identity, method, conditions and results.

Can an industrial caster test report cover a hospital-bed caster?

Do not assume so. ISO 22883 excludes hospital beds, while ISO 22882 has its own hospital-bed scope. Ask the test provider to confirm the applicable requirements.

What should I request before sample approval?

Request the complete report, sample model and drawing revision, test conditions, raw or reported results, conclusion and the link between the tested specimen and the quoted production configuration.
